Kes lives in Witham , Essex, with his wife, young family and assortment of animals. He is a born storyteller. Voted by the Independent as one of the TOP TEN children's authors only a year after publishing his first book, he is a major new talent heading for big success. In brief... Jim Field is a lead driven, pencil pushing, 12 volt DC enhanced, 25 frames per second, illustrator and animator of 2 headed dogs and hands with 3 fingers, caffeine filled, commission loving, led zeppelin fan. amen. Extended version... Hailing from the town of Farnborough (the one with the Airshow), Jim drew from a very early age with a burning ambition to 'make cartoons'. He studied animation at Hull School of Art and Design, graduated in 2002, gradually paved his way into the animation industry working as a director for Partizan in London. Meanwhile, he was also penning his way as a freelance illustrator working for editorial publications... His first picture book Cats Ahoy! written by Peter Bently won the Booktrust Roald Dahl-Funny Prize in 2011 and was nominated for the Kate Greenaway award. His favourite picture books include 'The Jolly Postman' by Janet and Allan Ahlberg, 'The Incredible Book Eating Boy' by Oliver Jeffers and anything illustrated by Charley Harper. Jim likes to dabble playing his guitar in-between scanning and waiting for publishers feedback. Jim lives in East London with his three bikes and girlfriend.
