John White is a lifelong sports fanatic who has dedicated his spare time, and his computer, to compiling an impressively comprehensive database of sporting facts and figures. He is the author of more than a dozen titles in Carlton's sports Misecellany series and compiled White's Sporting Almanac 2008. An Irishman from Belfast, he has ardently followed the Tour de France since compatriot Stephen Roche won the event in 1987 and another Irishman, Sean Kelly, was World No. 1.
