Product Information

Packing up her home, saying au revoir and moving her family to France for over a year of quiet country living was not a decision Allyson Gofton took lightly - but for all the effort, the tears and tantrums, it ended up being the experience of a lifetime. Her home for 18 months was a charming century-old farmhouse in Caixon, a small rural village of a dozen or so laneways, stone-walled villas and splendid iron-wrought gates. In Caixon Allyson was, for the first time, a full-time wife and mother who planned her days around school, housework, cooking and nurturing. Of course, it wasn't all plain sailing and Allyson was very close to throwing in the towel in the first couple of months as she battled a cold, lonely winter. Soon, though, life began to hold great promise. As the weather improved, activities in the villages also blossomed. Allyson eventually fell in love with this largely unknown area of exceptionally beautiful countryside, captivating locals, deep-rooted customs and traditional foods.
